The corrected Day 3 Results are now posted and show that Per Elisa retains the overall lead by five points. Checkmate XV is second and on equal points with Waverider in third on count back and Superhero and Red Cloud tied a further point behind them with Superhero taking fourth on count back. Waverider continues to lead the Vintage IOR Division.

After sailing this evening Olympic Laser Radial Bronze Medallist Evi Van Acker joined the crew of Half Duke to make a presentation promoting “Mothers & Midwives Support” the charity which they are promoting through their participation in this week’s regatta.
Mothers & Midwives Support is gathering funds to finance an ambulance boat for the Monvu Hospital and the Idjwi Island in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Their presentation included a short video on the work of the charity and the lives of the Idjwi Island community and the Monvu Hospital, for whom the ambulance boat will be a vital lifeline.
Evi is a patron of the charity and spent time speaking with the sailors and their families about the charity’s work and why this ambulance is so important.
The Henri Lloyd Concours d’Elegance Trophy is awarded to the boat which in the opinion of a secret judging panel is the best presented of the regatta. It was a tough competition this year with a number of the boats looking exceptionally good this season. But after much deliberation the trophy was presented at the Wednesday night awards ceremony to a boat which has undergone an extraordinary transformation.
If we ask you to think about an HB31 you will almost certainly conjure up an image of the much loved classic Van de Stadt cruiser racer, which looks something like this:
What you almost certainly won’t think of is Headhunter, which came into the ownership of Paul Wayte a few years ago as a classic HB31 in something of a sorry state and has since been almost completely rebuilt so that she now looks like this:

At the day 3 prize giving the winning team in the best Crew Disguise from last night’s Fancy Dress Pasta Party was announced. For an absolutely superb interpretation of their boat name (which means flight in French), the winners were….. the crew of Envol! Their prize was a set of handy reusable Klean & Kanteen water bottles.
So sorry we don’t have the results for you yet. There was a technical hitch with the results of race six and that impacts the overalls too. It is being worked on right now so we hope to have results for you soon.

Sorry this video interview is so late but we have a slow internet connection and we’re struggling to get things posted a wee bit. But better late than never here is last night’s chat with John Hicks of Rampage:
A fab race in glorious sun and cracking breeze. Checkmate was first home by a few boat lengths and was followed in by a gaggle of overlapped boats led by Per Elisa, then Superhero, General Tapioca and Red Cloud. Rampage was fifth home and Waverider sixth. Will have all the corrected results after the daily prize giving.

Race 6 is to be another windward Leeward. The breeze is now up to around 10-12 knots and the sun is even making a break through bid! The first attempt to start saw everyone bunching at the pin end with a general recall. All except Per Elisa who pottered in on her lonesome at the committee boat end. For attempt no 2 they are using Flag Uniform.
Superhero wins by what must have been two and a half mins plus. Per Elisa just second, Harmony and Checkmate neck and neck then Red Cloud and Ballerine.
