The Henri Lloyd Concours d’Elegance Trophy is awarded to the boat which in the opinion of a secret judging panel is the best presented of the regatta. It was a tough competition this year with a number of the boats looking exceptionally good this season. But after much deliberation the trophy was presented at the Wednesday night awards ceremony to a boat which has undergone an extraordinary transformation.
If we ask you to think about an HB31 you will almost certainly conjure up an image of the much loved classic Van de Stadt cruiser racer, which looks something like this:
What you almost certainly won’t think of is Headhunter, which came into the ownership of Paul Wayte a few years ago as a classic HB31 in something of a sorry state and has since been almost completely rebuilt so that she now looks like this:
What a transformation!
