Brittany Drizzel Has Passed General Tapioca

Behind Swuzzlebubble, Brittany Drizzel has overtaken General Tapioca and the two boats are enjoying a great fight. About a minute behind then Sibelius and King One are also dueling it out neck and neck, followed by Checkmate while Superhero has dropped back with Checkmate who just peeled kites. Next comes Half Red.

Fast Running Home

The fleet is now a little way offshore and enjoying a fantastic fast run back home. Swuzzlebubble has extended her lead and is now passing the Lost Pic lighthouse off Point de Bilfot. In our pic below Swuzzlebubble its just to the right of the Island and the rest of the fleet stretches out to the left of it.

Boats Approaching Ile de Brehat

We are now located at L’Arcouest at the entrance to the channel between the mainland and the island. We can just see the boats through the rocks in the distance so they will be here shortly.

And They’re Off

Race four is underway at the first time of asking and they make a fabulous sight streaming out of the bay. Swuzzlebubble is leading them out having started mid left on the line.

Setting Up For Race 4

We’re out in the start area and the committee is getting set up for the 40 mile inshore race. We currently have about 16-18 knots from the NW and there is a moderate swell running down the course. We have patch sun with a fair amount of cloud cover.

Day 2 Briefing For An Awfully Big Adventure

Today’s race is to be a long inshore race around the Ile de Brehat which is a pink granite archipelago north west of here.  As you can see from the chart pictured below the channels are very narrow and there are a lot of rocks and hazards to be avoided.  This morning’s briefing focused on safe navigation and confirmed that there will be two safety ribs with the boats at all times.  The forecast is for up to 20 knots from the north west (currently though its from the north east).  Good luck and safe sailing to the competitors!
